When I think about the environment, I think about the shimmering, glowing stars in the firmament above. Why are there no powerful women stars in movies? Not one comes to mind. Oprah does not count despite being a TV legend, her movie bombed. Beloved, anyone? Oprah wins the title for sustainability for TV.

Katherine Hepburn was a testament to sustainability in terms of star power. The most Oscar nominations (12), the most Oscars (4) and an impressive body of film work that has yet to be surpassed.

She played it all. Drama, period pieces, comedies, screw-balls and adventure flicks.By no means a good singer, she conquered Broadway as a singing Coco Chanel and Shakespeare fell under her spell sans songs.

That is a star. If Madonna ever starred in a good movie then she could be considered a living standard of sustainability. Madonna will simply need to settle for the music crown.

Now this is the fun part, name a modern actress that has the sheer personality, depth, range and strength to even meet Hepburn's range or durability.

Sad,huh? Not one woman comes to mind in either the American or world cinemas.

Now other bloggers may call upon you for action in terms of recycling and other saving the world actions. I call upon you, dear reader, to save the movies for all the strong, magnetically powerful women viewers of the world.
